の発症・進展に関与する要因の一つと考えられている。従って,AGEsの影響を抑えることがLSRDの発症・進展の予防および治療につながると期待されるが,体内では色々な経路から様々なAGEsが生成されていることが明らかになっている。筆者らは,体内で生成される各種AGEsの中でも,特に細胞障害性の強いtoxic AGEs (TAGE) がLSRDの発症・進展の直接原因となっていることを明らかにしてきた (「I. 細胞障害因子としてのTAGE」参照)。また,各種細胞障害に伴って誘引される血中TAGEレベルの上昇は,糖尿病および非糖尿病を問わず,未病も含めたLSRDの発症・進展の予防や早期診断,治療の有効性を評価する有用な新規バイオマーカーになり得ることが示されている。すなわち,血中TAGEレベルの把握により将来的な病気の発症・進展予測が早期に可能となって,LSRDの予防や健康寿命の延伸に貢献できることが期待される。本総説では,LSRDの発症・進展予測マーカーとしての血中TAGEの研究概要について述べる。",
